Okay, so where are we with AI right now?

Have you read Elon’s X post: “Welcome to the Singularity. How’s the temperature?”

You may consider Elon a professional yapper, but that’s not the point.

He wrote that post as a reaction to someone talking about OpenAI’s upcoming model. Right now, it is an internal model called Astra, and it has produced new results on 10 open problems in mathematics, quantum complexity and theoretical computer science.

A few of these problems had not seen any improvement in their main result for around a decade.

And honestly, this is massive news. It is a sign that we are heading in the right direction. Many mathematics researchers could not believe what had just happened, and they shared similar reactions on X.

Many people believe we are now close to discovering something big using AI. Maybe in material science, drug discovery or energy.
