Once in a while a research paper comes out and, being a nerdy mind, you find it genuinely interesting.

Like, we already have powerful AI tools out in the open. Anthropic has Fable 5 available to the public. SpacexAI is on the verge of dropping Grok 4.5. Same with OpenAI, the GPT 5.6 family is coming very soon.

And yeah, these are damn powerful models. But what about research?

We humans are good at research. From making fire with stones to building artificial gods, heck yeah we are good at research.

But can we say the same thing about AI? Is it as good as humans at research? And if not, how close is it? Are we even going in the right direction?
